Company Intent

We are interested in helping and promoting game artists. Our game studio is in the process of developing their first game. We feel that this is a great opportunity to establish early relationships between us and game artists.

Asset Lore

This is the location of the "Iris Tragedy." While once a beautiful area that housed many people in an elegant and ornate structure, the magical explosion leveled the entire area. A black, smoldering crater remains with remnants of magically imbued stones and items.

Do you have a desired image size?

In terms of scalability, we're looking for a proportion of roughly 1920 x 900. We'd also like the horizon line to be about 210 pixels from the top. This will allow us to place characters on the background as they fight.

Art vision for the game?

At this point, we are open to the creativity of the artist. As the game progresses and we get more art, we will be more inclined to use the style of our earlier artists. As you can see, we’ve only opened one environment asset to submissions. Other assets will be opened at a later date, once we determine a style we like.

What art-style would you like to see with the asset?

We’d like to see multiple art submissions to help us determine a possible art direction for the game. We have enjoyed the chibi style of art though. We suspect the characters that are done will have a similar look, so the background doesn't have to be too detailed, but still look very nice.

Describe the target audience for your game

The game will be playable on social networking sites, through a browser. The game can have multiple looks but we also want to make sure the art for the game appeals to the casual gamers.

What words would you use to best describe the look you are going after for this asset?

Feeling of dread, yet beautiful.

How is your company different from other competitors?

We believe our unique, innovative games will pave the way to success. We want to think outside of the box and come up with new ideas that no one has thought of. The focus is on fun but in innovative new ways.

What are some game style examples that you like?

We are impressed with this website's background. We also found this, which we thought was a nice looking 2D background:

What colors do you foresee being used with this asset?

Darker colors, maybe a magical blue or green to indicate the imbued magical areas.

What colors do you NOT want to see?

We don’t want to exclude any colors at this point. Artists can be creative as they see fit.

Who can we contact with questions?

Email submissions@watermintstudios.com

Do you have additional requirements or links you want to share?

We’d really like to be able to use the art submitted for our first game. If we like your style, we’d love to work with you to potentially work on other assets for us.
